Hi! I’m Michelle - the hands behind MYRE STUDIO.
MYRE STUDIO is rooted in the mire of the earth, where raw material is taken by my hands and shaped slowly into free form.
When I first started pottery, I was in a season where I lost myself. I had spent so much time trying to be what others needed me to be that I stopped recognizing who I was. I didn't even know what I liked or disliked anymore.
Clay became the thing that brought me back. The moment my hands first touched it, I knew immediately it was something I could fall in love with. Eventually, I decided to make this into something bigger.
That’s when I found the word "mire". Defined as wet, spongy, muddy ground, I liked how this word wasn't the traditional description of clay. However, I wanted to further make this my own.
So I decided to change the "i" to a "y". Because this journey isn't simply about clay but about my wet, soggy, muddy ground that slowly molded to form who I am today.
MYRE STUDIO is a reminder to myself that I am who I am through the choices I’ve leaned into, not for the pleasing of those around me but for myself. It’s about the continual molding of who I will become.
